Saó Abrivat 2022, chosen by consumers as the best wine at the Barcelona Wine Test Urban 2025

La Pobla de Cérvoles, November 2025

We are delighted to share some wonderful news: our Saó Abrivat 2022 has been recognised as the highest-rated wine by consumers at the Barcelona Wine Test Urban 2025, the first wine competition in the world in which only consumers decide.

This first edition has been a major success, with more than 150 non-professional tasters evaluating 200 wines blindly, in a radically democratic format where the consumer —not critics or technical panels— has the final word. An innovative model that places Barcelona at the centre of wine culture and evolution.

🥇 Gran Or (Grand Gold) for Saó Abrivat 2022

Among all the wines submitted, Saó Abrivat 2022 obtained the highest score of the competition, exceeding an average of 92 points according to participant evaluations.

The top-rated wines by consumers were:

  1. Saó Abrivat 2022 – Mas Blanch i Jové (Costers del Segre)

  2. Món Eixerit Tinto 2024 – Inversiones Ramsurt SL

  3. Vatan 2021 – Bodegas Ordóñez (Toro)

  4. VS Murua 2021 – Bodegas Murua (Rioja Alavesa)

  5. Gregal d’Espiells 2024 – Juvé & Camps (Penedès)

For Mas Blanch i Jové, this recognition is especially meaningful because it comes directly from the real consumer: people who choose and enjoy wine freely and who clearly connected with the indulgent, seductive and expressive character of our Saó Abrivat 2022.

🍷 A competition that opens a new chapter

The Barcelona Wine Test Urban represents a paradigm shift: wines are not judged according to technical criteria but through the emotional and sensorial experience of those who drink them. This first edition confirms a clear trend in today’s market: balanced, accessible, honest wines with a strong sense of place.

The same 200 wines evaluated by consumers will be tasted again on January 27 by a professional jury —importers, distributors and buyers— to compare results and analyse where consumers and experts coincide or differ. This dual approach makes the competition a valuable source of insight for wineries, trade and prescribers.

💫 Thank you

This award recognises not only a wine but a way of understanding the land and working the vineyard and winery with respect, authenticity and passion.

Thank you to everyone who trusts our winery and our wines.
We celebrate this “Gran Or” raising a glass to many more shared moments.

MAS BLANCH I JOVÉ ON THE WINE ROUTE OF LLEIDA

Tourism proposals

When traveling to Lleida, don’t miss the opportunity to do wine tourism in its lands. The wine they produce is part of the Costers del Segre designation of origin.

Enological trip through the lands of Lleida

These are wines that grow in calcareous soils, under a Mediterranean climate with continental air, with cold winters and hot summers.

Check out the website of the Ruta del Vi de Lleida Association. There you will find all the news from the wineries, as well as a careful selection of restaurants and accommodations in the area.

Visiting a winery can be the perfect excuse to explore some of the seven production sub-zones of the DO: Segrià, Raimat, Artesa de Segre, Urgell, Pallars Jussà, Valls de Riucorb, and Garrigues.

For example, you can see how organic farming is practiced to offer quality wine. They will show you how they carefully pick their own grapes to make wine, and how they are self-sufficient thanks to their own sustainable agricultural operation (of wheat, barley, alfalfa, etc.) that feeds their pigs, cows, etc. Oh, and don’t forget to taste their olive oil, which they press right there.

Many wineries in this area, like others, open their doors after the summer for you to participate in the grape harvest, a long-standing event that is combined with celebrations in surrounding municipalities. As the vineyards are at different altitudes, and depending on the weather in summer, the harvest can start in August and end in October-November.

A recommendation. Go to tread the highest vineyards of the designation of origin, at 1,000 meters above sea level. There is a winery that ferments wine in a curious way. They use stone vats from the 12th century. If you taste them, you will notice that they are more aromatic wines.

And did you know that there are wineries that make wine from between the stones? The vines are planted in an old gravel pit and produce quality organic wine.

These are some recommendations, but at the Ruta del Vi de Lleida Association, they will give you many more. Are you already looking forward to tasting a Costers del Segre wine?”
